every song has a structure you can hear but can’t see. sonicture makes it visible.

a sonicture is a computational portrait of a song. it maps pitch to color, loudness to thickness, rhythm to percussion geometry, and vocal melody to a white thread that spirals through the rings. center is beginning, edge is end. the portrait grows outward like tree rings, one ring per detected onset.

the mappings are deterministic: the same song always produces the same image. they are falsifiable: you can listen and verify what the colors, thickness, and gaps claim about the music. no randomness. no artistic interpretation. no AI.

this publication is a place to look closely at what songs reveal when every note has a color. each post is a reading of one portrait, or a comparison of two, grounded in the data the music contains.
